Monitoring of Cell Concentration

To allow bioprocess monitoring and control, real time measurement of cell concentration is a must. Methods of monitoring cell concentration can be direct or indirect.

In the former, cell concentration is direct measured.

In the latter it is measured indirectly through the measurement of oxygen uptake and rate of carbon dioxide evolution as an index of metabolic rate.
