Monoclonal Antibodies and Their Application
Diagnostic Application of Monoclonal Antibodies (Mabs)
Monoclonal antibodies are used for the unequivocal classification of blood groups.
They are applied for a clear and decisive detection of pathogens and hence are used for disease diagnosis.
Immunological assays using monoclonal antibodies against the marker antigen of tumour (carcino embryonic antigen-CEA), permits accurate detection of tumour cell type, benign and malignant nature of turnours and early cases of metastasis.
Mabs can also be used for an accurate detection of specific chromosomes of a given species.
