Using
Hydrogenase -
Some
microbes
possess
the
enzyme
hydrogenase,
which
helps
the
two
electrons
join
two
hydrogen
ions
to
produce
one
molecule
of
hydrogen
gas
(Hz).
These
microbes
include
a
number
of
algae
(e.g.
Scenedesmus,
Chlamydomonas,
Dunaliella.
Porphyridium
and
Oscillatoria)
and
some
photosynthetic
bacteria
(e.g.)
Rhodospirillium,
Chromatium,
Clostridium
and
Thiocapsa),
which
can
be
gainfully
employed
for
hydrogen
production,
although
their
commercial.
exploitation
is
still
at
a
very
early
stage
of
development
