Nitrogen
Fixing
Bacteria
for
Nodulation
in
Non
Legumes -
For
the
last
few
decades,
efforts
have
been
underway
to
induce
nitrogen
fixing
bacteria
to
form
root
nodules
in
non
legumes
like
cereals
including
rice,
wheat
and
barley
or
in
oil
seed
crops
like
rape,
etc.
These
efforts
in
the
past
often
met
with
failures.
However,
during
the
last
few
years,
groups
led
by
E.
Cocking
in
UK,
by
Y.
Jing
in
China
and
by
B.
Rolfe
in
Australia
were
successful
in
inducing
the
bacteria
to
form
nodules
in
the
roots
of
important
crop
plants
like
rice,
wheat
and
oilseed
rape
