Immunopurification
of
Antigens
Using
Monoclonal
Antibodies -Immunopurification involves separation of a specific antigen from a mixture of very similar antigens. This purified antigen can then be used for developing vaccine against a pathogen. The purification can be very effectively achieved using monoclonal antibodies, which are very specific in. their reaction against an antigen.
Individual interferons which are proteins having a property of inhabiting viral infection and cell proliferation, have also been purified using monoclonal antibodies. After such purification, interferons were used for clinical trials, before these were released recently for commercial use.
