US Patent Office Board of Appeals rejected a claim to recombinant protein β-NGF defined firstlyby amino acid sequence and secondly for being free of other proteins of human origin.
This rejection was based on the absence of evidence that the recombinant product was significantly different from the natural material or possessed any novel properties.
