Dual Promoter of Mannopine Synthase (mas) Genes 1 and 2

Dual Promoter of Mannopine Synthase (mas) Genes 1 and 2 - These promoters are present in a T-DNA fragment 467 bp long. The expression seems to be developmentally regulated and the linked genes seem to be most active in the basal region of the plant. Expression is also induced on wounding.

Since they are closely linked, if a marker gene is linked to one of these two promoters and a foreign gene is linked to the other promoter, selection for high expression of marker gene will lead to high level of expression of the foreign gene.
