Explants Used for Transformation - The explants used for inocultion or cocultivation with Agrobacterium carrying the vector, include protoplasts, suspension cultured cells, callus cell clumps (undifferentiated and proembryogenic), thin cell layers (epider mis), tissue slices, whole organ sections (e. g. leaf discs, sections of roots, stems or floral. tissues), etc. Wounding and inoculation of whole plants may also be used.
