Ribosomal
and
transfer
RNAs
are
end
products
of
gene
expression
and
perform
their
role
in
the
cell
as
RNA
molecules.
Messenger
RNA,
on
the
other
hand,
undergoes
the
second
stages
of
gene
expression
and
translation
and
has
no
function
beyond
acting
as
the
intermediate
between
a
gene
and
its
final
product,
a
polypeptide.
Ribosomal
and
transfer
RNAs
are
sometimes
referred
to
as
stable
RNA,
indicating
that
these
molecules
are
long-lived
in
the
cell.
Both
types
of
stable
RNA
(rRNA
and
tRNA)
are
involved
in
protein
synthesis
even
though
they
are
not
themselves
translated.
