	Industrial Microbiology Applications - Industrial microbiology has a wide variety of applications, which can be grouped into the following arbitrary categories mainly on the basis of the type of product obtained and the chief kind of activity involved: (i) metabolite production, (ii) biotransformation, (iii) anaerobic digestion (for methane production),
(iv) waste treatment (both organic and industrial), (v) recovery of metals, (vi) microbial biomass production (for feed, food and inoculation), (vii) production of biocontrol agents, and (viii) fermentation of food products. Discussion of microbial biomass production food fermentation, anaerobic digestion and waste treatment. The remaining applications are discussed briefly in the following sections.
