Isolation, Sequencing and Synthesis of Genes Molecular manipulation of specific genes is one of the very popular areas of research in biotechnology. These genes, therefore, should be either isolated or artificially synthesized before they are manipulated and used for transformation leading to the production of transgenic animals and plants that are discussed respectively in Chapters 10' and 20.

The isolated genes are also sometimes sequenced for a better understanding of its structure, that needs to be manipulated.

We, therefore, discuss the gene technology available for isolation, sequencing and synthesis of specific genes in this chapter.
