Molecular genetic maps are also being prepared in other farm animal for commercial and medical reasons. These maps of farm animals we enable genetic engineering for breeding programmes to increase yield growth rate and other commercially important traits. It has also be shown that microsatellites are conserved in related animals.
For instant 50% of cattle microsatellites are amplified by primers from sheep a vice versa. Therefore, heterologous primers are being used for development of SSR or microsatellite maps of related species.
Mouse and rat models can be used for elucidating the genetics a biochemistry of human diseases. Therefore, development of molecule genetic maps in these rodents will be a great help in human and lives to health care.
