Autopolyploidy - Autopolyploids have three or more than three genomes of same type. For example, if a chromosome of a diploid cell of onion plant is fused with haploid or diploid cell of onion plant. Then they are called as autopolyploids.
Autopolyploids normally have genome from the same species. Autopolyploids are further classified into further groups depending upon the number of genomes present such as triploid (three pairs), tetraploids (four pairs), pentaploids (five pairs), etc.
