Cloning of Cell Lines - From heterogeneous cultures, pure cell lines can be obtained by cloning, but since many cultures have each a finite life span, the cloning will be successful only in isolating variants from continuous cell lines.

These variants may include biochemical mutants and cell strains with marker chromosomes.
