Maintenance of Cell Lines in Suspension - Cells which grow continuously in suspension, either because they are nonadhesive (e.g. many leukaemias and murine ascite tumours) or because they have been kept in suspension mechanically, may be subcultured like microorganisms.

No enzyme treatment is required in this case and the sub culturing is done by dilution of cell density, rather than by replacement of the medium, since the latter will require centrifugation of the suspension culture to obtain a pellet of cells to be added to a fresh quantity of the medium.
