Applications of Chemically Synthesized DNA Molecules OR Oligonucleotides
There are immense applications of chemically synthesized DNA molecules or oligonucleotide.

1. Single stranded oligonucleotides are used as probes in medical research, as primers in PCR, in sequencing and in vitro mutagenesis.

2. Double stranded oligonucleotides can also be synthesized from single stranded DNA by using DNA polymerase and a short single stranded primer.

3. These double stranded oligonucleotides are usually used as adapters and linkers.

4. Genes with effective set of codons that are better suited to the host organism can be synthesized without changing the true amino acid sequence of the protein.
