Artificial Cartilage - Artificial cartilage is another candidate for tissue replacement, since it is not vascularized and therefore is not rejected due to immunogenic response. Immediate application of artificial skin involves sport related injuries and trauma, in much the same way as the patients predisposed to arthritis.

For this purpose, the precursors of cartilage i.e, the chondrocyte cells are combined with materials (e.g. collagen or PGA) that have mechanical properties, and are grown in culture.
