mRNA
Expression -
The mRNAs produced by transgenes is the most readily detected if they produce mRN As with unique sequences, which have no counterparts among those produced by the host genome.
A high purity RNA preparation is obtained from the appropriate tissue of transgenic individuals, and is subjected to RNA dot blot hybridization with a radioactive probe specific for the transgene. Alternatively, the RNA preparation may be used for northern hybridization, which provides additional information on transcript size as well.
